Each person is different from others – not just in looks, according to Ayurveda. They are different in their body type and skin type and the composition of humours/doshas in their body too is different. Hence the Ayurvedic practitioners may not prescribe the same treatment to two persons affected with the same disease. ``We first identify the body type of the patient and ask about their lifestyle, diet etc. We consider the geographical location and the climate they live in apart from their behavior and the recent illnesses that affected them,’’ says Ramankutty, an Ayurvedic practitioner in Kerala. It is only after analysing all these factors that a practitioner decides on the method of treatment. Ayurvedic treatment mainly focuses on wiping away the impurities of the body, alleviating the symptoms of the disease and increasing the immunity in such a way that it can root out the disease. While prescribing treatment, the Ayurvedic practitioners also take into account the psychological aspects of the patient and the treatments help in reducing the stress and anxiety. Ayurvedic treatments aim at creating equilibrium of the doshas in the patients’ body. With the herbal concoctions, strict diet, massages and other therapies, Ayurveda tries to bring in a harmony in the elements of the body and provides a mental and physical overhaul,
