Alright, this is a story about the founder of Gillyweed, that disgusting plant that Harry had to eat in the Goblet Of Fire. So without further ado....
Elladora Ketteridge sat in front of her campfire, on her recent travels to the north of England she had acquired a new type of plant Along with her usual supply of lacewing flies, dragon parts and ginger.
Tonight she sat with her friend, Dymphna Furmage. The pair had been experimenting with the plant for most of the evening. Both ladies had agreed; with a plant this unusual looking, it had to obtain some magical properties.
Elladora was beautiful as she was knowledgeable in potions and herbology. Dymphna, the frail looking woman that she was, gained experience with magical creatures. Although her career was short lived. A group of Cornish pixies surrounded her, scaring her away from a family of Puffskeins she`d been observing for a while.
"Maybe you should just eat it, Ella," Dymphna thought aloud. Studying the green lump in her hand.
"Have you forgotten the adventure in to the cave through the forest?" Elladora asked in surprise. "Or do I have to remind you what Devils Snare does?"
"Going in to the cave was your idea," Dymphna stated, laughing.
"I`m not the one who said, 'Just ignore it, love, It`s only a plant, just walk over it, dear'," Elladora mocked her friends voice, giggling.
Elladora sighed, thinking of how she spent her day, it couldn`t be cooked, peeled or dried. It was as it was; a pile of green slugs all tied into a ball. Dymphna passed the the plant back to Elladora.
They sat in front of her cabin, it was a cold night. With a fire raging in front of them, they were able to make out the lake that ran through the forest. Only a few metres from where they sat.
Elladora stared at it. 'Surely it can`t taste that bad,' she assured herself. She closed her eyes, 'Don`t think of what it looks like woman, eat it.'
Elladora counted to three, tilted her head back and tried to force it down, shaking her head. Making the green sludge slide down to the back of her throat. She almost gagged on the slimy feel in her throat.
Still Elladora persisted shaking her head back, forcing the plant down and swallowing it. Her eyes flew open and she grasped her throat with both hands, coughing and gasping for air.
"Ella, what`s wrong?" Dymphna tried to pry her hands away looking at her neck. "What`s it doing to you?"
Elladora shook her head, the pain in her chest began to feel like an unbearable tightness. She ran looking through her posessions for something to cure it. Her body weakened from lack of oxygen. As she continued to run she tripped over a stool, landing face first into the lake.
She gasped in shock of falling when she hit the surface, expecting to cough on the amount of water she felt she had inhaled. Her face still beneath the water she took another breath. Dymphna tried to pull her up, she wriggled from her friends grasp. To submerge deeper in the lake.
Dymphna sat by the water`s edge waiting for a sign from her friend. With a large breath of air, Elladora burst on to the water`s edge.
"How long was I under?" Elladora asked, cathcing her breath.
"An hour, I take it you can breath down there then?" Dymphna placed a towel over her friends shoulders.
Elladora nodded, smiling proudly, "I`m calling it Gillyweed."
